There are many reasons why cool symbols are used during conversations. The most popular reason is that people can express themselves. This is huge for ones that are shy and might not always know what to say. What if you are just feeling tired and not sure how to say something because of that? I know that I’ve been there myself plenty of times and grateful for the chat symbols.

Do you know that there are some people who don’t use chat symbols for messenger? You can use them for lots of other reasons. There are some that use it on their Facebook page, MySpace page, or Twitter. They do it when they are sending notes to friends, or when they are updating their page. With Twitter you are limited with how much you can say per note so these cool symbols can really help when you are trying to express how happy or angry you are about something.

Cool symbols

Below are five of the top cool symbols and emoticons that are used. Just copy and paste them in your messenger, profiles or pages and you are good to go. Your friends are going to be surprised that you might know more then them when they see you use symbols that they don’t know about. It’s up to you if you feel like sharing your secret!

Cool Symbols

(::()::)
Bandaid

When I saw someone use this on their messenger I knew right away that they had been hurt. Sure enough when I sent them a message they said that they had fallen down and hurt themselves. They needed a bandaid and could not find one but could find one on the computer. Thankfully, they are now doing fine but it was the first time I had ever seen the bandaid symbol used on the computer. You can also use it to let your friends know that you have a broken heart and need a bandaid on it.

o:-)
Angelic

There are times when we just feel angelic. Did you just help someone out or maybe you scored the highest in the class. Whatever your reasons are for feeling angelic you can make your friends envy you with this emoticon.

\-o
Bored

Are your friends causing you to be bored with a conversation that they are going on and on about? When the conversation gets so boring that you are almost falling asleep then perhaps you should tell them with this symbol.

|P| or |C|
Pepsi or a can of Coke?

Do you like Pepsi, or do you like Coke? Just thinking about it makes me want one but I can’t decide! Take a vote with your friends and see what drink wins!

>:-(
Angry

Did one of your friends just say something that made you really angry? What if you just got into a fight with your parents or best friend? You can let your friends know just how angry you are so that way they might be careful when talking with you.

These are a few cool symbols, but you can find many more emoticons and smileys over at Cool symbols (the address is http://www.coolsymbols.net). There are loads to choose from, so check them out!

Watch phones have been with us for quite some time but the idea doesn’t seem to get enough momentum cu become really mainstream and there are a lot of reasons for that like price, screen to small, worse than cellphones as functions, hard to use and such, but there is hope that things can change in the future. Let’s see why.

Watch phone

Do watch phones have a chance to become mainstream?

As it seems there’s a shift when it comes to how people perceive watch phones. It was quite obvious for me that watch phones have no chance as alternatives to mobile phones: there just isn’t enough room to cram that much technology in a watch and not effect usability, but if you look at watch phones as accessories, things to use together with a phone there’s another story.

Imagine the following scenario: you’re in a meeting, you put your phone on silent/vibrate but want to see it something really important comes up so you pair your watch to the phone and wait for messages or important calls. Once those come they’re displayed on the screen of the watch, plus it’s much more subtle to take a peak at your watch than take the phone out and check for new stuff. In this case a watch phone can prove to be quite useful, also in crowded places when you can’t hold a phone in your hand but you can watch the phone that’s already attached to your arm. Add a bluetooth headset piece to that watch phone and everyting looks normal now.

Trying to advertise watch cell phones as a replacement for phones is an error, but looking at them as accessories takes everything to another level, one where watch phones can become more and more common, plus more models will mean more competition which in turn gives us better models, with better design and features.

I can’t predict when we’ll get to buy watch phones like cakes but I bet that one thing can make us look at them as potential gadgets: bundle them with regular phones. That’s how you give people a taste of the watch phone magic and you ensure that once they depend on one, the next purchase will be also a watch phone. Building momentum and getting people to use watch phones is the key thing here and I hope other big manufacturers will consider building watch phones as for now only LG and Samsung seem serious about it.

This article was brought to you by TheWatchPhones.com, a site that deals with news, reviews and articles about wrist watch phone trend and the evolution of this idea.

Facebook smileys are tiny smiley faces which I like to add to my Facebook chat window to add some fun to them! They’re quite a new addition, but have soon become an everyday thing for anyone who uses the chat function on Facebook on the biggest site for keeping on contact with people in the entire world.

Facebook smileys

Facebook smileys

Why are Facebook icons not shown?

This is a puzzler that has surely long puzzled those who enjoy using popular internet sites. Why, if there are options such as smileys available, would the world’s most popular social network not tell the users how to use them? The real solution is clear – if you tell users how to insert them you clutter the UI and make it messy and dirtier. You also would make a more cluttered and less clear website – something that Facebook in particular has been trying to avoid with their site. It sets them apart, and makes them different. In actuality, it’s a very smart take on making a social networking.

Tell me what different different Facebook emoticons are available?

There are many, many emotes available for you to use, but sadly people can’t incorporate them in your Facebook update message or on other Facebookers walls. Right now, the only way to see these Facebook smileys is to use Facebook chat (which you can see in the bottom right of your home page, in the newly unleashed ‘Facebook bar’ that can be seen when you first log in).

This is just a brief introduction to Facebook chat smileys, in a future post I will school you a bit more on the subject of which ones are available and how to get them in your chats!

For many people Facebook is an unchangeable part of their lives, and because of this people have begun to recognize Facebook emoticons more and more each day. Many people think that these tiny Facebook chat emoticons are more recognizable than the ones offered by Myspace.

Facebook emoticons

Have you ever wondered where all those character emoticons come from? For example, did you ever wonder what caused Facebook to even introduce pictures into the chatting sessions of their users?

Facebook emoticons

Before Facebook there was Myspace. Five years ago Myspace was the main source for social networking. When myspace first came out it ruined other social networking sites such as friendster and Hi5. The reason being because numbers over power win every time. However myspace did make some mistakes.

The reason myspace became so popular was it gave a way for people to communicate with many friends very easily. People already knew about email and even using MSN chat sessions however with myspace users could combine both photos and chatting and even networking ( meet new people) And that made them the head of the pack. However their were number of problems. Myspace gained many subscribers and thus people began feeling small. Some people wanted to earn as many friends as they could while others wants to comment on others pages to market themselves or even their products. People on myspace wanted something completely different and completely their own.

This is where Facebook comes in. The site was started on the campus of Harvard University so that friends has a way to keep in touch and a way to organize their social calendar. The design of the site was clear and easy to understand. It was simple to use and no one had to question it. Soon the site was opened to the public.

Facebook met the goal of getting users of myspace to use them while still offering the same product with a much simpler system. Facebook also keep tight on their main goal;to make the site easy to use and bring people together online.

Facebook introduced their chat system two year ago. Those who tested it enjoyed its simple and basic look but was worried it was a mistake to add it. Soon people realized the added bells and whistles of other chat programs ( like yahoo and msn ) were really not needed and just added distractions. All they really wanted was a way to communicate with others.

Facebook also knew that people enjoyed using icons and smilies. So they quickly started installing several hidden smilies users could only use when they typed in a certain code. Some people got excited when they found them by accident other knew them right away by looking for list of codes on other websites. Facebook chat emoticons quickly have become a part of the very popular social networks vocabulary.

Most of us spend a large portion of our free time glued to our couches watching TV. With this in mind, it is rather surprising to see that in the last several decades, the biggest advancements in television technology has been limited to bigger screens, thinner dimensions, and higher resolutions. LCD, Plasma, HDTV are common household names and appliances, but has it really changed the way we experience video content? Not really, and this is why the recent development of 3D TVs by major TV manufacturers has really drawn a lot of interest.

3D TV

3D TV

3D imaging technology in fact, has been around for quite a while. The stereoscope is deemed to be the birth of the 3D revolution and that was invented all the way back in 1844. The 1950s saw the rising popularity of 3D films in theathers, but that interested died off when home TVs were produced allowing people to enjoy movies in their own homes. For several decades 3D seemingly disappeared off of the face of pop culture. If it wasn’t for IMAX, it could have even been considered extinct.

2010 is the year when 3D TV is set to make a comeback. In fact, Sony has such high hopes for the format that it is predicting that more than half of its Sony 3D TV sales in 2012 will be 3D Ready. Of course, Sony’s interest in the field could be deemd biased – with their Blu-Ray players already in place to provide 3D movies and its Playstation 3 gaming console also positioned to deliver games in 3D.

There are still alot of hurdles ahead for the adoption of 3D TVs. The price is currently way above the mass market levels, so the technology will need to be made cheaper. This is a problem that most innovative products face in their early stages, so it’s not exactly the main problem at this point. The bigger hurdle currently is the requisite of 3D glasses. These bulky and hard to tolerate glasses have been improved to create a better picture quality over the previous polarized cardboard glasses, but they are still there. 3D TVs not requiring glasses of any form are being developed, but that is still some time away.

In the end, 3D TV is a welcomed arrival and despite early hurdles is bound to do well – the only question is when?

For some time I’ve be searching the internet, hubpages and so many place for funny and creative funny Facebook quotes ideas. I find great joy changing my status on Facebook and getting a laugh each time I do. I try to update my status about 4 times a day.

Facebook quotes

My research

There are tons of websites that offer pages of advice on how to write creative Facebook quotes. I decided to divide each of these ideas into a number of categories. In this article I will discuss three; the special character, statuses with puns or smart gags and more fun and inspiring special characters

Funny Facebook Status Ideas – Example number 1 – Stars and Stripes

Example ★★★★★★★★★★★ I’ve got the stars…. now where are the stripes?

In the USA people become very patriotic after 9/11 and from then on no one was every ashamed to show they cared about their home and the people who defend it for us all year long and beyond. Showing your friends that you care while still getting them to laugh is great. With all the important patriotic holidays it’s a great way to show you really do care. The American is known all over the world even someone who isn’t living in America will know just what you are talking about.

Example Number 2 – Reality Humor

Example : I can’t decide between the “starts tomorrow” diet and the “ see-food” diet… Any Ideas?

Almost everyone has been on a diet at some point in their life… It’s not easy. And like all things in life; humor makes it so much easier. Show the funny side of dieting. This can easily brighten the day of someone who is on a very strict diet due to health or anything.

Example number 3 – The Facebook status hoax

Example: Steve is uploading a virus ████████████ 83%

Because of the many famous YouTube hoax vidoes online that were replaced a few years back; many people enjoy tricking their friends. However I wouldn’t use this on people who are new to computers you might actually confuse them and they may end up very upset.

Now go come up with your own Facebook quotes!

MSN symbols are a new kind of emoticon which is sweeping the internet, and the irony is that it has been available to everyone for many years. These emoticons and special characters are available now to copy and paste into your MSN names, statuses and chats – and the best part is that you don’t need to download them or upload them, just copy and paste.

MSN symbols

What is an MSN symbol? Within the character map of Windows operating systems there are lots of cool letters and characters that you can use to leave messages to other people. These include smileys that represent a wide range of different things, included the regular happy faces, but also things like music note symbols and characters that can express different moods or feelings.

In the past, people who use MSN could simply use the emotes and smilies that were installed on their computers inside the Windows Live Messenger software, so why should we use these types of symbol? The answer is simple. There is a growing move away from the official software that Microsoft provides, and towards online chat services such as Meebo. These services can’t access the emoticons that you have previously uploaded to your client, and so you are stuck with plain old boring icons.

Not any more! Now if you go over to the MSN symbols website you can find a huge number of different types of special alt character, and you are not just limited to chats. You can also put them into your little status bar to pass on further information to your buddies. This info could be the song that you’re listening to (use a music note symbol), what you’re doing (use a chess character) or perhaps where you are right now (with an airplane symbol)!

There are a number of other resources for different social networks on the site, which you can browse at your leisure. These include different fonts, or ways of controlling what you type. One example is a way of getting bold and underline in your Facebook chat boxes. The good thing about the alt codes is that you can also use these icons in your Facebook status and chats!

The possibilities really are endless, so why not try to be creative? You can also combine characters to form larger pictures, and paste them into comments on blogs or put them on your Myspace page. Try out some symbols for MSN now and find your favourite!

One man’s obsession with changing his Facebook status almost got him in hot water at his office yesterday – and his Facebook quotes mania nearly cost him his job. David Perry, who works in a bank in Central London, was fined by his employer and warned that if he continues to change his Facebook status at work during office hours then he could face disciplinary action and dismissal.

Facebook quotes

In one of the strangest court cases in recent history, it turned out that the employee had been accessing Facebook from work, usually not an offence, but after the business installed a timer on the network to see how long people had been spending on different websites it became clear that he had been on the social network for more than 75% of his day.

When quizzed about it, he claimed that he had not been actively using Facebook chat or looking at people’s wall posts, but merely staying logged in so that he could change his Facebook quote to something funny or original. This led to a heated argument with his employer, and the subsequent legal action. The court found in favour of the company and warned Mr Perry that as an employee he had a duty to do whatever the IT policy of his company suggested, even if he didn’t agree with it.

Mr Perry was unavailable for comment late night Thursday, but his Facebook status update read that he would appeal against the verdict and said that everyone should have access to funny Facebook quotes whenever they wanted.

Here’s an early New Year’s present for all fans of the Firefox browser – their mobile software, which has been in development for more than a year, is on the verge of being released. A lot of the talk in the world of browsers recently has been about Google and their Chrome offering, and so it is interesting to see Mozilla try to wrestle the momentum back from the internet giant.

It’s been a crazy few weeks in the browser world, with the introduction of Google Chrome browser extensions, and the fanfare surrounding them. Mozilla has taken a back seat to Google in the race to become the de-facto #2 in the race (behind Microsoft’s Internet Explorer), and so they’re trying to get back in the fight through the mobile product.

What can we expect from the Firefox mobile browser?

Mozilla want its users to have as close an experience to the desktop product as possible, and so they are trying to incorporate as many different options and settings as they can. This includes tabbed browsing (which up to this point has been sorely lacking in a vast number of mobile browsers, including RIM’s Blackberry software).

What will be similar about the mobile browser?

The tabs for the browser will be found on the left hand side of the screen, with easy access to a number of open pages. There has also been a promise from the Firefox development team that this will be fast software, and not a memory hog like some mobile addons and widgets can tend to be.

Look out for the Firefox mobile browser before the year is finished! That means within five days at the latest. Stay tuned for more browser news from RockNLoad in the future, including talk about the Google Chrome browser and its current war with Internet Explorer!
