There are many reasons why cool symbols are used during conversations. The most popular reason is that people can express themselves. This is huge for ones that are shy and might not always know what to say. What if you are just feeling tired and not sure how to say something because of that? I know that I’ve been there myself plenty of times and grateful for the chat symbols.

Do you know that there are some people who don’t use chat symbols for messenger? You can use them for lots of other reasons. There are some that use it on their Facebook page, MySpace page, or Twitter. They do it when they are sending notes to friends, or when they are updating their page. With Twitter you are limited with how much you can say per note so these cool symbols can really help when you are trying to express how happy or angry you are about something.

Cool symbols

Below are five of the top cool symbols and emoticons that are used. Just copy and paste them in your messenger, profiles or pages and you are good to go. Your friends are going to be surprised that you might know more then them when they see you use symbols that they don’t know about. It’s up to you if you feel like sharing your secret!

Cool Symbols

(::()::)
Bandaid

When I saw someone use this on their messenger I knew right away that they had been hurt. Sure enough when I sent them a message they said that they had fallen down and hurt themselves. They needed a bandaid and could not find one but could find one on the computer. Thankfully, they are now doing fine but it was the first time I had ever seen the bandaid symbol used on the computer. You can also use it to let your friends know that you have a broken heart and need a bandaid on it.

o:-)
Angelic

There are times when we just feel angelic. Did you just help someone out or maybe you scored the highest in the class. Whatever your reasons are for feeling angelic you can make your friends envy you with this emoticon.

\-o
Bored

Are your friends causing you to be bored with a conversation that they are going on and on about? When the conversation gets so boring that you are almost falling asleep then perhaps you should tell them with this symbol.

|P| or |C|
Pepsi or a can of Coke?

Do you like Pepsi, or do you like Coke? Just thinking about it makes me want one but I can’t decide! Take a vote with your friends and see what drink wins!

>:-(
Angry

Did one of your friends just say something that made you really angry? What if you just got into a fight with your parents or best friend? You can let your friends know just how angry you are so that way they might be careful when talking with you.

These are a few cool symbols, but you can find many more emoticons and smileys over at Cool symbols (the address is http://www.coolsymbols.net). There are loads to choose from, so check them out!

MSN symbols are a new kind of emoticon which is sweeping the internet, and the irony is that it has been available to everyone for many years. These emoticons and special characters are available now to copy and paste into your MSN names, statuses and chats – and the best part is that you don’t need to download them or upload them, just copy and paste.

MSN symbols

What is an MSN symbol? Within the character map of Windows operating systems there are lots of cool letters and characters that you can use to leave messages to other people. These include smileys that represent a wide range of different things, included the regular happy faces, but also things like music note symbols and characters that can express different moods or feelings.

In the past, people who use MSN could simply use the emotes and smilies that were installed on their computers inside the Windows Live Messenger software, so why should we use these types of symbol? The answer is simple. There is a growing move away from the official software that Microsoft provides, and towards online chat services such as Meebo. These services can’t access the emoticons that you have previously uploaded to your client, and so you are stuck with plain old boring icons.

Not any more! Now if you go over to the MSN symbols website you can find a huge number of different types of special alt character, and you are not just limited to chats. You can also put them into your little status bar to pass on further information to your buddies. This info could be the song that you’re listening to (use a music note symbol), what you’re doing (use a chess character) or perhaps where you are right now (with an airplane symbol)!

There are a number of other resources for different social networks on the site, which you can browse at your leisure. These include different fonts, or ways of controlling what you type. One example is a way of getting bold and underline in your Facebook chat boxes. The good thing about the alt codes is that you can also use these icons in your Facebook status and chats!

The possibilities really are endless, so why not try to be creative? You can also combine characters to form larger pictures, and paste them into comments on blogs or put them on your Myspace page. Try out some symbols for MSN now and find your favourite!

Recently many people have started using special chat symbols in their MSN and Facebook chats, and also in blog comments. These special symbols are free to use for everyone, and you don’t need to download anything or pay for anything – just copy and paste them from websites!

Some people, however, have taken this even further – to the next level! They have begun to combine symbols to create new pictures, larger images which can then be put into Web 2.0 comments sections and on Myspace pages and Facebook walls. The creativity of these individuals is amazing – and you can see from the example below that there are some really amazing pictures!

Home Simpson ascii art

So what would you put into your Facebook chat or on your website if you could make a picture of anything? Here are some ideas:

- Make a special character image of yourself, using an old photograph! It will look really cool in black and white!
- Draw the robot from Wall-E! He’s really cool and obviously would fit very well in any technology blog or website.
- The Windows 7 logo in special characters – this might be good to show to people who made the mistake of installing Windows 7 before it was properly tested what they really should have done instead – copied some special characters or symbols from here!

If you know of any other special characters or symbols that can be made into cool faces, paste them in the comments section here!
